Mr. Sulek grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. During his high school education, he found he had a passion to teach science, inspired by his own science teachers. With that passion and inspiration, he went to Illinois State University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to teach high school science at Peoria Heights High School in Illinois for two great years.
In the summer of 2017, Mr. Sulek moved to Grand Rapids to be closer to family. He then taught middle school and high school science classes at Flat River Charter Academy in Greenville, MI. However, teaching endorsements in Michigan are different than the ones Mr. Sulek obtained in Illinois. Due to this, Mr. Sulek went to Grand Valley State University for one year to obtain credits and receive an Integrated Science endorsement. This endorsement allows Mr. Sulek to teach all sciences he is passionate about.
While attending Grand Valley State University, Mr. Sulek wanted to continue to be involved in helping students learn, so he tutored at Sylvan Learning Center. There, he gained and honed skills teaching students how to be successful in reading, math, and SAT practice. In the spring of 2019, Mr. Sulek completed his Integrated Science endorsement and sought after a new place to teach and call home. Later that summer, he gladly accepted a position to teach Chemistry and AP Chemistry at WMAA. This will be his first year here and he is excited to get started.
Feel free to ask Mr. Sulek questions to get to know him better! He is excited to get to know his students, teach Chemistry and AP Chemistry, and lead the Science Olympiad.
